The Good Will Fire Company is pleased to make a historic operational announcement!
On Monday March 16th, Good Will Fire Company’s first Career Fire Chief will take the reins of the department.
Over the past decade, it has become increasingly apparent to the Fire Company's leadership that the job of the Fire Chief in the combination fire service is demanding. While call volume continues to rise, driving a need for increased operational oversight, so do other needs of the fire company. Five years ago, the Fire Company recognized the need for daily operational oversight, leading to the promotion of Career Captains to lead each shift. Today, the leadership of the Fire Company recognizes that the Fire Chief's role extends far beyond operational responsibilities and includes significant administrative duties. Budgeting, short and long-range planning, managing career, part-time, and volunteer staffing, adhering to training and administrative mandates, participating in local government, and much more are all priorities that need attention to consistently maintain the direction and operation of the Fire Company. These activities all require constant attention, demanding a large commitment of time from the Fire Chief.
The Good Will Fire Company has proudly selected David Majewski, Jr. as the Company’s first Career Fire Chief. Chief Majewski, Jr. has been a volunteer member of Good Will since 2008 and is a third-generation member of the Company. During his 18 years of Active Membership, Chief Majewski, Jr. has been an integral part of the Fire Company, both in participation as a top responder for the last fifteen years, but also behind the scenes in various committees, initiatives, training, planning, and more. Chief Majewski, Jr.’s background includes extensive fire and rescue training, technical certifications, leadership development, and a degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Defense.
For the past eight years, Chief Majewski, Jr. has guided the department through many milestone events and periods of growth. The Good Will Fire Company looks forward to continued progress and success under his leadership as he steps into this historic role.
